Even IRIS responses are getting worse - VA keeps saying things are getting better but I disagree!

Hi All,

I've used IRIS a few times in the past to get updates on my Los Angeles claim status (Filed in 05/2011) and their responses were always better than Peggy's. I guess those days are now gone; I send an inquiry last week hoping to get an update on my claim and below is the response I got back:

The thing that bothers me the most is that they replied on an old inquiry from February; are they that lazy that they have to recycle an old email so that they don't have to write up a new response? Come on!

Called the RO today to find out where my claim  folder was at for my three appeals. The RO or the BVA. Was told it was  being held at the RO until the BVA decides it wants it.  It's been over two years now.  Does anybody know how long it take for the BVA to do an appeal?

smiley: alienHi there, I was hoping to find out information regarding my knee claim. I took my c&p exam back in March of this year, then was sent a letter of deneil in May time frame or around there. Now, they denied my claim for not showing up to a second exam, Which they did find two Medial Mensicus tears in both knee's, well I called the VA and explained that I never showed up because they never notified me of the appointment time, no call or letter. So the VA set me up this past week with a guy that was their to confirm if it was service connected, we talked for about 30 min or so and he did his leg exam and felt around the tender areas and such. He said he would give me credit for the knee's, I also had it documented in my SRB that I had knee issues such as throbbing and pain as well as swelling and stiffiness since 04 and their...

Claims Management Works!

I submitted my claim in October of 2010 and like most others, it's been slow-going ever since. I recently stumbled across a post recommending the poster call claims management, as they could assist in the possible expedition of his claim. Although I was nervous after reading that several individuals had spoken with someone who was not helpful, to the point of being rude, I figured I'd give it a try. I called yesterday and guess who I spoke with on the first try? You guessed it, Mr. Meany was in full effect. He was abrasive, rude, and unncessarily brusque, but I believe in killing people with kindness so I thinked him for his time, help and wished him a wonderful day. I completely understand that they are inundated with calls from vets looking for assistance, but I don't think a little courtesy is too much to ask. On a whim, I decided to call back this morning. I got a really nice, helpful guy who told me he would contact the RO and someone would call me probably...

28 months and still nothing

My appeal reached the 28 month mark, under progress in E-Benies it still reads "no info". I know there are no set timeframes on appeals with the backlog the VAROs are faceing. But can someone-anyone tell me when I can expect at least some movement on my appeals? At or about a year ago I was told via IRIS that my appeal should be completed by the end of the year. I received the same answer around January of this year. I guess the definition of "end of the year" leaves you to guess end of which year? 2012? 2013? 2999? Who knows?

Can anyone shed any light on this endless pit I seem to have fallen into?

Thank you

Doc

Ebenefits contains Old and Not up to date information.

Is there anywhere on Ebenefits that I can find up to date information, specifically about my remands. All the information I see is old. There is no information about my remands. I try to find the appeals details page, but it is no where to be found. I called Peggy today, that I do weekly for information, she stated once again my remands were rated on May 17 and it is now in the notification phase. I inquired about it being overlooked for the past two months and she said that was part of the notification phase. Anyhow, again Ebenefits for me only contains old outdated information. The most recent things I see on it, is what you see below.

I was raised from 50% to 70% June 21. I recieved a brown envelope saying that on the 22. Now I am waiting for them to update my payment and recieve retro from Jan 2009. My bank account says I am still at the 50% rate and so does Peggy. She just said I was in notification stage. My question is how long until my % is updated and I recieve my backpay? I am happy with it and think the % fits, but I really have been struggling finacially. I already put in for IU. I was approved for SSDI in 2 weeks, I don't understand why this is taking so long. Can anyone provide me with some experiances? Thanks Nick

Are there schedule intervals that the RO updates information on the ebennies web page, or do they do it when their schedule allows them to do it ?

New to VBN, DRO hearing went great. What now?

Hi all. I am new to VBN.

On 7/25/2012 I had a DRO hearing that lasted all of 4 minutes, He had already been reading my file and was not happy with a lot of what was done in the C & P exams.
He told my attorney and I that he was going to 100% SC me and retro it back to 1/2009 with ?special compensation.

So what happens now. How long will it take for award letter and payments.
Can anyone tell me about ChampVA for my wife?

I thank all who respond in advance and I thank all of you have served.

Something that really touched me that the DRO said. "I'm not giving you anything.....you earned this and deserve it."

I do hope the award goes as smooth as the hearing.

Claim timeline from Houston Regional - slow as molasses

My VSO submitted a claim for increase secondary to SC on March 2011. Which supposedly VA had made a final decision for in April 21 butI' then was put back into gathering evidence when VSO submitted Chronic Depression contention. Have already met with mental health, behavorial health and had a QTC exam with Pyschologist in May 2012 and VA received June 2012. The Pyschologist was nice enough to let me know she definitely feels all my SC conditions are directly related to my current depressive state. We shall see whenever they decide to send me my QTC exam results.

Houston is my regional office. There is nothing else needed from myself to submit for evidence. I'm just trying to figure how much longer till I can see some movement to decision or complete. I'm currently rated at 70% . When I spoke with a rep she seemed to hint at my 1st contentions submitted will likely generate a 100% rating but I'm wondering if that will be P&T, IU or whatever genre the VA may put me...

AB8 Letter

19 Months after retiring (BDD claim converted to QS by VA), I got my big brown envelope.  AB8 letter updated and showed payment in agreement with the letter, but effective date of 1 Dec 2011.  Letter effective date is 1 Jan 2011 (date I retired).  I understand the AB8 letter saying December because that's when the COLA kicked in.  Three weeks later, the AB8 late was updated and now shows effective date of 1 July 2012 (this is the date the brown envelope letter says they start paying while retro is withheld for DFAS audit, etc.).

Has anyone else ever seen this?  I called DFAS and know they got the request for audit from VA.  Is my retro in jeopardy or is this just another lovely ebenefits inaccuracy?  I'm very curious as to why the date would change on the AB8 at all...

IRIS Status Check

E-mailed an IRIS status check request on July 18th. Received a call from IRIS telling me they could not verfy my branch of service. They asked me to fax them my DD214 which I did. Funny thing is this is the 3rd time I have had to fax in my DD214. I Filed my claim last Nov. in Oakland. He told me he could not confirm what documents are in my file...It just gets better and better!! This is a presumptive claim, one item PC and all documents have been sent!  O well, again I'm just venting....

Ebenefits says complete and I already got the DAV letter nothing from VA =(

Ok y'all finally got my Ebenefits thingy updated and it says my claim was completed on the 25th of July. So I already got my DAV letter saying I was awarded 20% which I am going to appeal but I guess what I am asking is from the time it is completed when should I actually expect the VA letter? I am semi-impatient, but we are about to move in a little over a week and would really like the pay and back pay to help with our move (wishful thinkin I am sure).... DAV letter came over 2 weeks ago.... So once I receive my letter from the VA how soon will I get my pay started and my back pay? And heres a question that may very well be silly but is there even a remote chance that I could possibly get it Aug 1st means it was all finished on the 25th and the first is right around the corner? Thanks for any info you may have =) FYI I love this site... Wish I knew about this a few years ago

Everytime I talk to the VA reps from the 1-800 # they are always so rude and mean

I absolutely hate calling the 1-800 number to ask any questions at all about my VA claim status or anything really.... They are so rude and mean. I get it, there are hundreds if not thousands of Veterans that call daily with the same annoying questions... But in essence to any other annoying customer service related job out there, isnt there a customer service guideline they too must follow? I just hate the way every question is made to seem stupid and they always ask "Is there anything else I can help you with?" But yet if you ask another question they are even more mean and abrasive =0/ why work where you hate and hate interacting with people? It really makes zero sense to me.... After waiting a lifetime to speak to an actual person.. I felt even more confused than I did before I called and was just so upset with the way my entire conversation went I was so weary of continuing to ask questions =( What a horrible...

Well August is almost here. I am willing to bet the ECT will slide to the right again this month. Originally ETC July 18, then August 18, now Sept 11. I personally think it is pathetic that we have to wait so long for our claims. Its not like they didn't see this coming with Afghanistan and Iraq back in the early part of the decade.
